1. How does Chillifreeze.com help Indian writers publish their book?

Chillifreeze is a one stop shop for Indian writers looking to publish their book. We offer a complete range of services to help authors publish their work, including manuscript review, editing, cover and eBook design, allocation of ISBN number and marketing.

In other words, you give us your manuscript and we provide you with a finished product without all the hassles associated with traditional publishing such as multiple query letters, low royalty rates and high rejection rates.

2. How does it work?

The process is quite simple. Let us describe the process in four stages.

Stage 1: Manuscript Review

The author sends the manuscript with payment for review. Read more about manuscript evaluation options and charges.

The manuscript is reviewed by the editorial team.

The feedback and comments are sent to the author within a fortnight.

Based on the feedback, the author finalizes the manuscript.
Stage 2: Agreement, selecting services and publishing options

The author sends the revised manuscript.

The publishing agreement is sent to the author for his/her approval and signature.

Meanwhile, the author selects services depending on his/her requirements.

Author sends signed agreement to Chillifreeze along with the payment for services rendered.

A copy of the signed agreement is returned to the author.
Stage 3: Production

The manuscript is sent to the design team.

The final version is sent to the author for approval.
Stage 4: EBook goes live on
Chillifreeze helps market the eBook.

4. I have a manuscript ready. What is the first step now?

We offer manuscript evaluation services to authors who would like to begin the ePublishing process. Please select the review options and charges.

Once you have made the payment online, our editorial team will analyze the manuscript and give you detailed feedback.

5. I am OK with e-publishing but I also wish to print my book. Can buyers buy print versions of my ebook?

Yes, a buyer wishing to buy your book will have the option of buying a printed version too! It is your choice, whether you want to sell it only as an eBook or offer the printed version too. The best part is that you do not have to sit on a large inventory of printed copies to begin with. Chillifreeze offers you the Print on Demand option for your books. The hard copy of the book will reach the buyer within 10 days of the purchase online. Presently this option is offered only within India. This is an additional service that you will have to pay for. Questions About The Manuscript

1. What kinds of manuscripts do you accept?

We accept manuscripts from wide genres including fiction, children’s books, self-help, humor, research, travel & lifestyle and more. The only prerequisite- The content must be India-centric OR the author must be of Indian origin.

2. I have a collection of short stories. Can you publish it?

Yes, but here are the exceptions. We do not publish manuscripts with pornographic content or any other illicit material. We also do not accept plagiarized content.

3. I have written a novel. Can you evaluate it and give me feedback on how it can be improved?

Yes. We can evaluate the novel and send you feedback.

4. I do not have the manuscript ready yet but can I get the idea evaluated before I start writing?

Yes. We can give you a few ideas and suggestions.

In case your proposal is really good, we can explore collaborative writing.

5. In what form must the manuscript be submitted?

The manuscript for review should be a MS word document or commentable PDF.

6. Can I work on the design, formatting and layout myself?

Yes. You can submit a ready-to-publish document. Ask us about our formatting guidelines before you submit your ready-to-publish manuscript. In such cases, your costs will be lower but since we will not be editing your manuscript, the book will be listed under our self-publishing section. We will sell it on our store and the royalty terms will remain the same, but Chillifreeze will not be listed as the publisher.

7. My book is not in English. Do you publish books in other Indian languages?

Yes, if you submit your book as a formatted document in pdf format.

8. Can I have photos and images in my book?

You can have images and photographs in your eBook. You must own copyright to the images and they must not plagiarized from any other source. Design costs will be higher if you have more images. So do keep the number of images limited.

1. What is the first step in manuscript submission?

Manuscript evaluation is the first stage in the submission process.

2. Once my manuscript has been evaluated, and I have made the suggested changes, what do I do next?

Once your manuscript has been evaluated, you can look at the epublishing services we offer. We will also send you a pdf form that lists our services along with the rates for each service. You can then complete this form and send it back to us. We will process your book according to the options you pick.

3. Do you have experienced editors to edit and proofread my book?

Yes, we do have professional editors and proofreaders. We can provide editing and proofreading services at reasonable rates. For more information, email info@chillifreeze.com.

4. How long does it take to publish an eBook?

It usually takes 2-3 months from the review stage to the final publication stage.

Questions About Copyright And Ownership

1. Will I own copyright to all my content?

Yes. The copyright to the content is with you, the author.

2. Can I publish my book on another website too?

The ISBN assigned to your book belongs to Chillibreeze. It cannot be used by another publisher. In case you wish to publish with another publisher, you can nullify your agreement with Chillibreeze with at least one month prior notice

3. What if I want to terminate my agreement with Chillifreeze?

The agreements are usually for a term of 3 years. You can terminate the agreement with one month of notice period.

4. Do I get an ISBN?

Yes, any book published with us automatically gets an ISBN number.

Questions About Design Services

1. What design services do you offer?

We offer a complete array of design services for your book.

We can do eBook cover design, text layout, graphics and more.

2. Can I do my own cover design?

You can do your own cover design.

3. Can I submit the book as a pdf file that needs no layout or formatting?

You can submit your book as a PDF file. The PDF should meet basic design standards.

4. How much do your design services cost?

Questions About Payments And eBook Pricing

1. How do I pay Chillifreeze for services rendered and for publishing the book on the Chillifreeze bookstore?

In addition to the manuscript evaluation fee, you will be paying for our services once you have decided which ones you are opting for. Once we work out costing and you send us the completed agreement, we will send you an invoice and you can make an online payment into our bank account or send us a check.

2. What percentage of the sales do I receive?

The percentage sharing is as follows:

-70% of sales (if author is paying for editing, marketing and design services)

-50% of sales (in other cases)

3. How am I paid when the eBook starts selling?

Your percentage of sales earnings will be paid to you twice a year (in January and July based on sales during the period).

If your payment is less than Rs 500, it will be carried forward to be paid six months hence.

4. Does Chillifreeze suggest a retail price for my eBook?

Chillifreeze decides on the retail price of your eBook based on your input. In certain cases, we might suggest a retail price but as the author, the final decision rests with you.

5. Can I get discount codes for my relatives/friends?

Yes you can. You will need to send us a request with names and email ids of your friends. The discount code will be valid for a fixed duration.

Questions About Marketing And Promotion

1. How does Chillifreeze help market my book?

Chillibreeze offers several marketing options to eBook authors.

You can pick one of our various marketing packages for your book. The basic marketing package is available for free to all authors, except those who self-publish their work.

2. I got my book reviewed by a buyer/another writer. Can you publish the review? Do you have a limit on the number of reviews you publish?

We can publish any number of reviews by buyers/other writers.

3. Can you publish preview pages for potential buyers?

We can publish excerpts of your book on your book page. As author, you can pick the pages you want to show up in the preview.
