What do you think of writing as a career?

Posted on behalf of Tina

My grandfather sez tht journalism is an honourable career, bt writing (not for newspapers) is not! He sez that v ought to re-consider my decision to work as a writer after I finish my jounro course. I say, GTH! I think writing can be as honourable a career as you make it - totally up to me an' evrything in my handz - I like tht idea! The freedom and independance it gives is gr8 + I also gt to goof off when i want!

What do you'll think?

wow, it took me a long, long time to actually read what you wrote. Hope this is just the way you write when writing for fun. Because writing, whether for a newspaper or otherwise, is a serious business. You can't really "goof off". yes, the freedom and independance is there to a limit - your client rules your pen and that is not really a lot of freedom.

ALso, certain types of personalities cannot manage writing. I'm not discouraging you - just saying be realistic when you take your final decision. Maybe grandpa knows best (and maybe not!).
