A friend has requested me to work on an assignment but I am not sure how much to charge.

Here are the assignment details: We are developing a`website for a client. He has provided content in bits and pieces for almost all pages. He needs someone to check through the content up there, proof read, edit, refine, enhance and also add  few words at some places etc.

Also if the person can write a couple of introductory lines - like on pages where we have sublinks but no data. He basically needs someone to check on content flow across the site and enhance it.

Well, how do I decide on the charges? What are the hourly rates of a website content editor?

Any tips would be helpful

I normally charge Rs.100 an hour for editing. It took me a while to establish myself as a freelance editor but now the volume of work is steady as clients look for people who turn in good quality work at reasonable rates.

I work on research projects ocassionally and  charge about about 50 paise to a rupee depending on the number of fields per contact or category.
