The Alchemist

I find Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist a fascinating book that urges people to follow their dreams as it takes us on a journey of discovery with Santiago the central character of this book.

The story  is full of optimism and positivity as the Alchemist himself says, when he appears to Santiago in the form of an old king "when you really want something to happen, the whole universe conspires so that your wish comes true". This is the core of the novel's philosophy and a motif that echoes throughout the novel.

This book of hope and optimism is must read for everyone as its message is beautifully woven and reaches out to one's heart.

Re: The Alchemist
i can just say one word for the author-genius.it is unbelievable that so much optimism and goodness comes from a man who spent a couple of years in prison.Usually prisoners denounce the world and the people and believe they have been wronged by everyone but paulo coelho's surprised me.the universal truth is reflected in his work which is that you may search the world for happiness but you always find it where you least expect it.in this book's case the shepherd roams the whole world looking for treasure and eventually finds it at the place where he used to sleep before starting his journey.summed up in a phrase-"to melt in it's own water is the destiny of ice"i sincerely hope that people read this great book and learn something from it.

Re: The Alchemist

The Alchemist is a book that transformed my life. It is based on simple truths and instills in one the courage to follow one's dreams. One of my favourite quotes from the book." Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself," emboldens with courage and strength.
